The writer behind a new book on Mac Miller has offered his take on the late rapper’s relationship with pop singer Ariana Grande. Paul Cantor’s book, Most Dope: The Extraordinary Life of Mac Miller, was released today (18 January), a day before Miller would have turned 30. Cantor, an early fan of Miller’s music, spoke to a number of his friends for the project, as well as drawing on his own encounters with Miller before the artist’s death, aged 26, from an accidental overdose in book reportedly avoids any salacious details regarding Miller’s relationship with Grande, but does state that she was “a rock” for Miller through his struggles with substance checked into rehab for around three weeks in 2016, with Grande making several visits to see him during his treatment. The book also covers how Miller supported Grande after the Manchester Arena bombing at her concert in 2017, performing their duet “The Way” with her at a benefit couple split in early 2018, sparking a media frenzy, particularly after Grande began dating Saturday Night Live star Pete Davidson. Grande was later accused by fans of pushing Miller over the edge, prompting her to say that their relationship had grown “toxic” despite her attempts to support him. (Getty Images for MTV)Cantor suggested the media and the public projected how they assumed Miller felt about Grande and Davidson, without knowing the facts.“I think in the moment that they were together, there was definitely a real thing,” he told the Daily Beast. “You can see by the actions explored in the book that it was real. That’s why I don't think, to his credit, he never said anything at all about it, other than it was a relationship that was good while it lasted. He wanted to give it the dignity that it deserves.”He continued: “There was a narrative that was being put out there about his relationship that maybe wasn’t 100 percent accurate. He was becoming a little bit of a tabloid version of himself, and this is not what this guy was about. He’s a really deep human, and put a lot of his life into his work. What's that line, ‘It’s easy to write, you just open up a vein and bleed?’ I mean, he was bleeding, it’s all over his music.”Grande released a lengthy and moving tribute to Miller following his death in 2018, calling him her “dearest friend”.Most Dope has caused some controversy due to pushback from Miller’s family, who refused to be interviewed for it and went so far as to request that his fans avoid it.“This book is not authorised or endorsed by Malcolm’s family and has been written by a writer with whom Malcolm did not have a relationship,” a statement issued last year said. “Furthermore, the writer had no meaningful access to those that were closest to Malcolm – friends, family, collaborators etc. In fact, the writer of this book was made aware at the outset of the process of writing this book that the family and friends of Malcolm were uncomfortable with him authoring this biography, yet he chose to proceed against our polite insistence that he not do disservice to Malcolm’s legacy through writing a book without legitimate primary sources.”Cantor said he had actually received “a lot of support” over the book, “contrary to what was put out there”.“I had a lot of support from people around [Miller],” he said. “Their support, actually, is one of the reasons why I even pursued it. Had they not been supportive from day one, I probably wouldn't have done it. But they were, and that motivated me.”Miller’s posthumous album, Circles, was released in 2020 to critical Twain addresses ex-husband Mutt Lange’s affair in Netflix documentaryLouis Tomlinson accuses TV hosts of stirring up One Direction ‘s***’ during interviewJoey Badass accuses Delta Airlines of damaging $12,000 worth of recording equipmentIf you or someone you know is suffering from drug addiction, you can seek confidential help and support 24-7 from Frank, by calling 0300 123 6600, texting 82111, sending an email or visiting their website the US, the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration can be reached at 1-800-662-HELP.

We have loved and adored and respected each other since the beginning, since before we even met, just because we were fans of each other’s talent."She explained it wasn't the right time for them to be together in the early stages of their friendship, but they truly did admire each other when they weren't dating. "We both needed to experience some things, but the love has been there the whole time," Grande said. "There were times over the years when he would call me and hear that I was stressed or overwhelmed or not doing well, and he would call my mom. There were also times when he was really broken and sad — this was years ago — and I would come take care of him, because we love each other as best friends first and foremost."But, Grande said "the universe" was telling them to date and eventually they September 2016, Miller briefly opened up about dating Grande. Ariana Grande and Pete Davidson redefined the idea of a "rebound relationship" for the rest of eternity. Mere weeks after splitting up with longtime partners — and just 24 days after initial reports claimed the two were "casually dating" — it was reported and later confirmed that the two stars were engaged to each other.

Ariana Grande and Mac Miller were once a power couple in the music industry. But where did it all start? Ariana Grande and Mac Miller first interacted via a Twitter exchange. Miller replied to Grande’s tweet, and the conversation led to him asking the singer to collaborate on a song. Following their collaboration, the duo maintained a close friendship which eventually evolved into a romantic relationship that lasted 2 years. Their relationship ended in mid-2018, and Miller sadly passed away shortly after. Explore a timeline of the couple’s relationship below. First Interactions In December 2012, Ariana Grande posted a tweet asking her fans what they were grateful for on Thanksgiving. Watching the parade from the couch all warm and cozy in our apartment. What are you thankful for at the moment? ❤— Ariana Grande (@ArianaGrande) November 22, 2012 The singer asked, “Watching the parade from the couch all warm and cozy in our apartment. What are you thankful for at the moment? ❤” Mac Miller tweeted in response, saying he was thankful for the Velvet Revival, an EP due to be released by his alter ego Larry Lovestein. Grande tweeted back claiming that she was “very excited to listen to it”. Miller went on to ask Grande if she would be down for a collaboration, to which Grande told him to “tell Larry [she’d] love to!”. This led to the duo’s first collaboration during Christmas – a cover of Idina Menzel’s Baby It’s Cold Outside. In an interview with Cambio, Miller spoke fondly of Grande, describing her as an “angel”. He went on to speak about their first musical collaboration. He said, “If you ever interview her… she’ll tell you an awesome story about, like, her label person telling her that she should work with me and her saying, ‘He looks weird.’ But I am weird… she was correct. But she didn’t know that there was a really genuine person.” Miller’s 2013 feature on Grande’s song The Way was hugely successful, with the two flirting and eventually kissing in the music video. Grande spoke about reaching out to Miller for the collaboration to Billboard in 2013. She said, “Mac and I had been hanging out for a while at that point, and I was like, ‘I really want you to feature on this record. What do you think?’ And he said, ‘Sounds like a hit to me!’” However, after the pair’s kiss on the music video sparked dating rumors, Miller was quick to dispel accusations. He told MTV of their relationship, “That’s the homie. She’s got a boyfriend and everything. Obviously, that [kiss] made everyone talk […] we were shooting and the director was like, ‘This should happen,’ and I’m like, ‘Alright.’” They were close friends throughout their own relationships – Grande dated Big Sean, Ricky Alvarez and Jai Brooks before finally going official with Miller in 2016. A Timeline Of The Relationship In August 2016, the two were seen kissing in public after Miller had featured on a remix of Grande’s song Into You. Shortly after, they debuted their romance at the 2016 MTV Video Music Awards, and Grande later posted a picture of the two cuddling on her Instagram. The couple’s relationship lasted for almost 2 years. However, in May 2018, Grande posted an Instagram story confirming their breakup. She wished him success, saying “I respect and adore him endlessly and am grateful to have him in my life in any form…” Miller unfortunately had a series of publicized troubles after the breakup. Grande replied to a fan who implied she was the cause of his spiralling. She tweeted expressing the hardships she endured in attempting to support him and push him towards sobriety. Unfortunately, Miller passed away due to an accidental overdose a few months later, while Grande was engaged to Pete Davidson. Grande has since dedicated various posts to him and has written songs honoring his memory. 🎼 Mac & Ari's Incredible 'Dang!' 17 May 2021, 21:02 | Updated: 17 May 2021, 21:03 Ariana Grande's dating history and ex boyfriends include famous faces from Big Sean, the late Mac Miller and her most recent ex, Pete Davidson, so let's take a look back through her relationship history. At just 27 years old, Ariana Grande is one of the biggest stars on the planet and with that territory comes a very public knowledge of who she is dating and has dated in the past. Ariana's dating history features some pretty famous faces, some of whom she's collaborated with, and some whirlwind romances, but these days she's happily loved up with real estate boyfriend – now husband – Dalton Gomez. So, let's take a dive into the very well known relationship past of Ariana Grande, from her two year romance with the late rapper, Mac Miller, to her highly publicised engagement to and subsequent split from Saturday Night Live comedian, Pete Davidson. Ariana Grande And Dalton Gomez Are Officially Married Ariana Grande and Jai Brooks Picture: Tumblr Back at the beginning of Ariana's singing career in 2012, she started a long distance relationship with Australian YouTuber Jai Brooks- who started a competition with his brother to see who could get her attention, which the singer's mum spotted and told Ariana to message him! They dated for about a year, flying back and forth to surprise each other, but it all ended when he publicly accused the singer of cheating on him with The Wanted singer Nathan Sykes- who she had a song with, called 'Almost Is Never Enough', something she has strongly denied, claiming Jai simply wanted 'his fifteen minutes of fame'. Ariana Grande and Big Sean Picture: Getty Ariana started dating Big Sean, a rapper signed to Kanye West's music label, in 2014 and they made their public debut at the 2015 Grammy's. He is one of the exes she name dropped in her infamous ex track, 'thank u, next' with the lyric: "Thought I'd end up with Sean/but he wasn't a match." Their relationship lasted for about 8 months, and they were actually super cute together and performed their songs such as 'Best Mistake' and 'Right There' together on a number of occasions. Big Sean is now with Jhené Aikoo, who he's been dating since 2016 after becoming friends in 2012 and collaborating together on numerous occasions over the years. Picture: Getty Ariana Grande and Ricky Alvarez Pic: PA Following the end of Ariana's relationship with Big Sean, she briefly dated one of her dancers named Ricky Alvarez. Ricky became one of Ariana's dancers in April 2014 before talk of a relationship between the two was sparked when they kissed on stage during a 2015 live show. Ariana and Ricky dated for just over a year before she tweeted 'life is wild and change is f***ing fantastic' and hinted that the couple's relationship had come to an end. The couple were caught up in an infamous scandal after they visited a doughnut shop and were filmed secretly licking doughnuts, quickly being slammed by both fans and the press, before issuing a public apology on Twitter. Neither Ariana nor Ricky has spoken out about the reasons behind their split but they're on great terms now after he joked about being name checked in 'thank u, next' and it was laughs all around. Ariana Grande and Mac Miller Picture: Getty Ariana's longest relationship was (publicly) two years long with the late rapper and singer Malcolm James McCormick AKA Mac Miller. They first hooked up in 2013 when they collaborated on track 'The Way', but only went public in 2016 after being spotted cozying up in various places, with Ariana coyly confirming the relationship during an appearance on Ellen after posting an Instagram of them with the caption 'baby.' Mac supported Ariana after the Manchester attacks in 2017 and the couple were still together when Ari released 'No Tears Left To Cry' and performed it at Coachella back in April 2018. Fans were completely shocked when the pair ended in May 2018, but Ariana quickly explained how she couldn't date a man "who couldn't keep his sh*t together" and struggled with his sobriety- Mac was arrested after totalling his car whilst driving drunk days after their split was announced. They were a couple for just under two years, but tragically Mac Miller passed away in September 2018 after a drug overdose at the age of 26. In both her 'thank u, next' and 'Positions' albums, Ariana drops subtle lyrics about missing Mac. In 'just like magic' she sings, "Take my pen and write some love letters to Heaven." Ariana Grande and Pete Davidson Pic: PA In what had been a total whirlwind romance, SNL comedian/actor Pete Davidson and Ariana got together after spending time together when she appeared on the comedy show in 2018, telling her tour manager, 'I'm going to marry that man' after working in the writers room with him. The pair quickly became inseparable before confirming their engagement just weeks after getting together and she dropped a whole track titled 'pete davidson' on her album, 'Sweetener'. However, after a matter of months of being engaged, Ariana and Pete split and Pete even deleted his Instagram account fuelling the rumours that it hadn't ended on good terms. It's been suggested that the death of Mac Miller and its effect on Ariana played a big part in the couple's split, however that has remained unconfirmed as the pair remain silent on the reasons behind their split although she pointed out in a 2019 interview with Vogue it was 'never going to last'. She touched heavily on the split in her album 'thank u, next' with tracks 'In My Head', 'ghostin', and of course, 'thank u, next', so if you want any more tea, have a big ol' listening party! Ariana Grande and Mikey Foster After reportedly keeping their rumoured romance out of the spotlight since they 'started dating' in August 2019, Ariana and Social House star Mikey Foster ended their relationship in February this year. The couple are thought to have grown close while filming their music video for 'Boyfriend' in summer last year. However, in March, a source close to the pair told Us Weekly they ended it "around a month ago", despite being spotted in Disneyland together weeks prior. Ariana Grande and Dalton Gomez Ariana began dating real estate tycoon Dalton in February 2020, after the pair were pictured locking lips in a bar outside of LA around the same time. They then went into quarantine together, quickly growing close as Ari took some well-deserved downtime at home and out of the spotlight, meaning she was able to keep their blossoming relationship private for months. Almost a whole year later Dalton proposed in December 2020 and on 17 May 2021 it was reported they've secretly married!
Did Pete Davidson really send private pics of Ariana Grande to Mac Miller? No, there is no report that proves that Davidson had shared private photos of Grande with him to Miller, who died in September 2018, before his death. According to earlier reports, it was just an ugly rumor, which began after a tweet went viral claiming the same.
